Practical details

1 - Autumn School 14-16 October 2018 / Strasbourg

  • Welcome and registration

You will be welcomed on Monday 14/10/2019 from 9.30 AM to 12 AM at the Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre / Institut de Physique du Globe de Strasbourg on the University of Strasbourg Central Campus. (map)

The classes will be organized in several rooms on the University Central Campus. The group composition will be indicated upon arrival.

  • Accommodation

A list of possible hotel in the city centre and close to the University central campus is available here.

  • Meals

On Tuesday 15 October 2019, lunch will take place at the restaurant "Le 32" on the University Central Campus. During the Autumn school, diners will be paid by participants.

  • Transportation

2. Workshop 16-18 October 2019 / La Petite-Pierre

The workshop will take place at Hotel "Aux Trois Roses" / La Petite-Pierre where participants will be hosted and take their meals. 

  • Recommendations for oral and poster presentations

The language for communications and posters will be English. The planed duration for invited talks varies from 20 to 30 minutes (including questions); other talks should last 15 minutes (including questions). People presenting posters will have 2 to 3 minutes (1 or 2 slides) to present their posters orally, in sessions tat will take place before the poster presentations. Posters will be hang on grids, which are 1.2 m wide for 2 m high. We recommend A0 size posters in portrait mode  (84.1 cm wide by 118.9 cm high). Attaches adapted to grids will be provided.

  • Accommodation and meals

From Wednesday 16 October to Friday 18 October 2019, accommodation will be at the Hôtel "Aux Trois Roses".

  • Transportation

Between Strasbourg and La Petite-Pierre, transport will be by bus and will be supported by the organizing committee.  Further details will follow in June 2019.

  • Parking

Cars can be left in the hotel parking or in the University parking for those who choose to come to La Petite-Pierre. Beware not to leave any valuables in the University parkings.

  • Night hike around La Petite Pierre

A night hike, accompanied by a group of  licensed guids is planed on Thursday evening (9:30 PM to 0:00 AM) in the Vosges Massif. The hike has no specific difficulties. Because of the elevation (500 m) and the season, we recommend taking warm and impermeable clothes, hiking shoes and headlights, as they will not be provided.
